Client Experience: Debbie Requesens

One of my favorite types of clients to help are those who are frustrated by chronic running related discomfort. Once medical red flags and training errors have been ruled out, it's often a case of needing to move more efficiently. We need access to all of the joint movements in the body to run as efficiently as possible. We can think of each joint movement as an 'option' the body can use to 'complete a movement task' - in our case, that's running. Pain is often the body's way of saying, "I need access to more movement options." It's hard to know exactly how to do this quickly and efficiently without help, which is where I come in.

Thank you, Debbie, for being willing to share more about your experience!

How did we originally meet? How did you get to know who I was?

Back in February-March 2025, I read about "Anatomy in Motion" in a book ("The Rise of the Ultra Runners") and I got curious, so I did some research and I found you! I contacted you through your website and we had an introductory call. I signed up with you for movement assessment and recommendations right away! After a few weeks, we started talking about me wanting to run a marathon, after 14 years, to celebrate my 50th birthday.

What was your specific situation at that time? What were you going through/facing in your life?

I was suffering from constant knee pain. I could not run for more than a couple of miles without my knee hurting. Also, I knew I wanted to train again for a marathon, but first, I didn't know if I could actually do it and second, I didn't know where to start.

What was the obstacle that would have prevented you from buying my services? What was the reason you almost didn’t become my client?

We placed wedges like this strategically under her feet to offer her feet - and therefore her body above - a new (and useful) movement experience.

To be honest, it was hard to believe those 3 little wedges and such small movements could actually be the cure to my pain! I remember thinking after the first assessment, "how can he really see what I'm feeling if it is even hard for me to feel such small changes?" But I was wrong!!!

What was your first impression of my stuff? What did you think?

Like I said, it was hard to believe! You could see small things on video and I had no idea how you were doing it. It took me a few days to buy the wedges because the truth was that I was skeptical.

Are there any good BEFORE and AFTER “things” with specific results we could talk about? For example, is there anything that was wrong before, but isn’t wrong now? Or anything that you couldn’t do before, but you CAN do now? This can be physically, mentally, emotionally. How are you different now than before we started working together?

Definitely! I have zero joint pain. No knee pain, no hip pain. And I can run 26.2 miles!

I also didn't think I had the time to run 4 times a week. I was really resistant. But working with you opened up a brand new perspective on my running. I could do it. My body can do it. You always trusted I could do it. But I really recommend the training paired with the movements. The fact that I could run painlessly was the key of my training regularly.

The biggest difference? I can call myself a runner again!

I cannot recommend you enough!!!
